“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3
For many survivors of human trafficking and abuse, counseling is one of the first places where they feel safe enough to begin healing.
Since 2015, the Renewing Life Center has provided trauma-informed counseling to women who have survived trafficking, domestic violence, and other life-shattering experiences. In the counseling room, survivors find a space where they can begin to process their story, rebuild trust, and rediscover hope.
For years, these counseling sessions were made possible through a partner organization that helped cover the cost of care. But when changes in their funding required them to pause their program last year, that support came to an end.
The need for counseling, however, did not end.
Survivors are still healing. And they still need a safe place to do that work.
That is why we created the Make a Way Counseling Fund.
Why the Make a Way Fund Matters
The Make a Way Fund ensures that survivors of trafficking, abuse, and other trauma can continue receiving professional, trauma-informed counseling—regardless of their ability to pay.
This counseling provides survivors with:
- A safe place to process trauma
- Compassionate, trauma-informed care
- A pathway toward healing, stability, and renewed life
To sustain this care, our goal is to raise $2,000 each month to provide ongoing counseling sessions for survivors.
The Story Behind the Name
Years ago, while learning about the realities of human trafficking, I heard a song by Natalie Grant called “Make a Way”.
Its message about God bringing light into the darkest places stirred something deep within me. That moment ultimately set me on a path that led to becoming a counselor and walking alongside survivors as they rebuild their lives.
Since 2015, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing extraordinary courage and resilience in the women I work with. Healing from trauma takes time, patience, and trust—but counseling creates the space where that healing can begin.
When funding for these sessions ended, I knew we could not allow finances to become a barrier to that healing.
Because even when the road forward seems impossible, God still makes a way.
A Survivor’s Words
One woman receiving counseling through the Renewing Life Center shared this about her experience:
“When I came to the program I was withdrawn, avoidant, and scared. My past had shown me connection was dangerous, intimacy was a lie, and people’s intentions could not be trusted. Jennifer never rushed me or forced my healing process. She made me feel it was safe to take up space and be seen. Counseling is probably one of the first spaces in my life where I have felt safe and loved. I can attribute much of my safety and success to the continued, consistent, compassionate care that Jennifer and the Renewing Life Center provide. I know healing is a lifelong process, and I hope I can continue exploring that healing in a place where safety and trust have already been established.”
Stories like this remind us that counseling isn’t just a service—it’s a lifeline.
How You Can Help Make a Way
Our goal is simple: raise $2,000 each month so survivors can continue receiving counseling.
One powerful way to make this possible is through monthly giving. If 20 people commit to giving $100 per month, the full cost of counseling sessions for survivors can be covered.
But every gift matters. Healing happens when a community chooses to care—each person giving what they can so that survivors receive the consistent, compassionate support that makes lasting healing possible.
A monthly gift can provide life-changing support:
- $50/month helps sustain ongoing counseling care
- $100/month sponsors a survivor’s counseling session
- Any amount helps ensure that no woman loses access to healing
If this mission resonates with you, please consider making a gift today by clicking here.
Your generosity will help ensure that survivors continue to have a safe place to heal—and that together, we can make a way.
Give today and help make a way for survivors.
